Today’s world can be experienced as very fluid. Nothing is fixed, everything is in motion. This hybrid, unstable world serves as a point of departure for the artists in ‘Fluid Desires’.
This winter Nest and the Electriciteitsfabriek present VOLTA, where artist Oscar Peters will build a lively world where popular entertainment and macabre spectacles are applauded.
The works by Oscar Peters (1981) move, ride, chop and float. ‘Halo’ is the most recent work in his series ‘Shakers’. Peters is a critical connector and explores in his practice the reconciliation between public entertainment, folklore and the professional arts. With fascination he observes social tendencies such as festivalisation and reflects this innovatively back […]

Nest and Mister Motley invited Reinsma to create an audio work for MYBODY. COM, inspired by Hans Ulrich Obrist’s book ‘do it: the compendium’ (2013), a collection of instructions from various artists for performances and visual art.
The exhibition MYBODY.COM reflects on the body as a battlefield of power structures.

This year at the Future Fuzzy Field you dance the whole weekend in the future – inspired by the vast world of Sun Ra, the cosmic afrofuturist, seer, poet and avant-garde jazz pioneer.
A solo exhibition of Tanja RitterbexHow to live in times when self-appointed gurus, online influencers and sly commercials teach you happiness? When the most ordered book-genre online is on self-help?

Just like Sun Ra, philosopher Clara Bolle has a love for mythology. In this lecture she discusses the role and function of mythology from a Western philosophical perspective. She takes the story of the Odysseus as a guideline.
Nice workshop on Wednesday afternoon, especially for Verwende Nesten.
‘History is His Story’ is an international group exhibition that expands on the mythical world as described by the musician, poet and visionair, Sun Ra
they say that history repeats itself
but history is only his story
you haven’t heard my story yet
my story is different from his story
my story is not part of history
because history repeats itself
but my story is endless it never repeats itself
why should it?
– Sun Ra
Once we had the world backwards and forwards’ reflects on the status quo after the millennium, on man and his great ambitions and how small the world is if you look at it from afar. During Art Rotterdam Nest will show 10 artists in a two-hour compilation of video art and YouTube outside at the Van Nellefabriek.
(Nederlands) ‘Once we had the world backwards and forwards’ reflecteert op de status quo na het millennium, op de mens en zijn grote ambities en hoe klein de wereld is als je hem van veraf bekijkt.
Can you actually consider things by themselves? Apart from frameworks, tunnel visions and juniper expectations? The reason for this question is ‘Even if it’s Jazz or the quiet storm’, an exhibition in Nest without the usual coordinating story or unifying theme. For Filosofie in Den Haag and Nest, the exhibition ‘Even if it’s Jazz or the Quiet Storm’ is reason enough to invite writer and philosopher Elize de Mul to give a lecture. She wonders what it brings us, this encounter with things in itself. What do they show us? The mystery? The world in itself?
