Bloemenarrangement bezoeken? Koop tickets online

18 Dec – 19 Dec 2021   /   Evenement@Nest

Nest and Zaal 3 present Bloemenarrangement on 18 and 19 December. In Zaal 3 there is the theatre play Bloemenduel by Steef de Jong and Louie van Beek. Before the performance you can visit the exhibition ‘Is it possible to be a revolutionary and like flowers?’ at Nest.

Louis van Beek and Steef de Jong wrote Bloemenduel (Flower Duel), a large-scale operetta with four main characters, eight supporting characters, a choir and music for a large orchestra. All together for about 80 people. Or rather 80 women, because they wrote Flower Duel for an all-female cast. The test audience to whom they presented the operetta was so enthusiastic that they decided to take it into theatres. Just the two of them. The result is Bloemenduel, an all-female cast operetta (for two gentlemen).

Is it possible to be a revolutionary and like flowers?

The artists who come together in this exhibition answer the question of the exhibition title with a resounding ‘YES!’. They show that the flower as a symbol can seduce, comfort, heal, adorn and distract, and find common ground in feminist affinities, queer desires and ecological solidarity. But flowers can also represent a form of oppression and censorship, a secret language, a wink and a sledgehammer blow all in one.
