Bookpresentation Scheltema: Wat Niet Is Maar Kan Zijn

29 Oct 2020    13:00   /   Nest@Scheltema

If you were to die today and return one generation later, in what world would you want to be born, no matter where or who you are? This is the question Nest and CBK Zuidoost asked to ten writers and nine artists. The result is the book ‘Wat Niet Is Maar Kan Zijn’.
The book is part of the exhibition ‘A Fair Share of Utopia’, which can be seen at Nest and CBK Zuidoost until 22 November.

On Thursday October 29 at 13:00 the book launch of ‘Wat Niets Is Maar Kan Zijn’ will take place in Scheltema in Amsterdam. The conversation can be followed via a live stream (in Dutch). Dean Bowen and Vamba Sherif, two authors of the collection, will present their views on this central question.

Dean Bowen is a poet, performer and city poet of Rotterdam for 2019 and 2020. In 2018 he made his debut with the collection ‘Bokman’ and recently appeared ‘I found no ghosts in Achtmaal’ (2020).
Vamba Sherif is a writer and was born in Liberia and grew up partly in Kuwait and Syria. He wrote several novels, including ‘The Black Napoleon’ (2015) and ‘The Land of the Fathers’ (2011).

The conversation is moderated by two editors of the book: Heske ten Cate (artistic director Nest) and Maurits de Bruijn (Mister Motley).
