Scenography and design: Eline Mul

The exhibition brings together artists whose practice takes many forms and is expressed through various platforms. From working on commercial projects to community building. They are interdisciplinary artists; depending on place and context, and preferably all at the same time.

“I think the Netherlands is run like a business and the motto is profit at all costs. If you put ‘non’ in front of it, it raises the question what it means to not be profitable within that view. What if profit is not the goal, but togetherness. I see us as the Wu-Tang Clan: everyone is different but we are one crew. What binds us is that we’re indie and we feel a social responsibility to tell the viewer where the world is now and through which hoops we need to jump to improve it. “*

Through different historical periods, cultural communities and geographical influences, Farida invited the artists to explore the conditions for art as living as activism. Fueled by inspiration, interaction and the integration of new ideas, creating their own economic conditions in which they can create independence, but at the same time influence and inspire others.

Where authorship is a fluid concept and a unique work that is as valuable as circulating merchandise because it makes the message accessible and widespread. Autonomy arises where artistry and entrepreneurship meet and can move freely towards a higher goal; propagating a self-conscious identity in an equal and just world.

By sharing a story of solidarity and how forms of collaboration, action and protest contribute to greater togetherness.
