This Little Art – Kate Briggs

For the second edition of Between the Lines, the programme in which we read and discuss books, essays, poetry and articles, a book was selected by the exhibiting artists. Ana Navas, Evelyn Taocheng Wang and Mila Lanfermeijer chose ‘This Little Art’ (2017) by writer and translator Kate Briggs. On the 18th of February, Kate Briggs will also join the reading group for a conversation.

In ‘This Little Art’ she explores the process of translation – like reading and writing itself – and its relationship to her own practice as well as that of others, asking: what exactly is a translation? What happens in the process of translation and what relationship does a translator enter into with the original, context and time?
We will discuss these questions with, among others, Mila Lanfermeijer in relation to her artistic practice and concepts such as re-production, appreciation and appropriation.

The programme takes online due to the current measurements.
