Maria Barnas discusses texts that deal with ‘the in-between space’.

Ensuite, together with mister Motley, organizes a reading café in which texts are read that have been published in the context of the series of articles ‘Tendens’ and the exhibition ‘Even if it’s Jazz or the Quiet Storm’. In the evening it is investigated whether there can exist a place where unfamiliarity is (temporarily) ‘preserved’ instead of being interpreted, analysed and served as knowledge. Where the stories told do not have to be ‘informative’ stories. The in-between space is about nothingness, about having no meaning; it is a plea for the seemingly nonsensical, unnecessary and incomprehensible. In the section Tendens, contemporary zeitgeist phenomena are discussed monthly with artists, scientists and writers.

Ensuite is the artist in residence programme of Zaal 3 and Nest. Maria Barnas is the winter president and investigates the possibilities within non-narrative narratives.
