Shani Leseman & Iris Luijkenaar

Shani Leseman’s work is a research into the role of magic in our everyday lives. She covers subjects like witchcraft, rituals, and the ability of objects to carry meaning. Iris Luijkenaar works at atelier Zinderin in The Hague and is specialised in dragonology: the study of dragons. She is convinced that dragons are not just mythological creatures, but have once roamed our planet, sometime between the age of dinosaurs and the age of men.

Together they’ve started a search for Shani’s ‘personal dragon’: a dragon that is part of every human individual, like a star sign or a shadow. Despite the fact animals can much more in tune with their surroundings, humans have a habit of behaving like their superiors. People often try to ‘train’ their animals, but perhaps we can learn about as much from them. Or from our dragons for that matter.

Shani and Iris present their work in a collaborative installation with Tommy Smits and Laurens Gabriel.

The Grand Palace of Everyone

In collaboration with No Limits! Art Castle

Welcome to ‘The Grand Palace of Everyone’, a land without borders where collaboration reigns.

Together with No Limits! Art Castle (formerly known as Outsiderland) we tear down the walls between fantasy and reality, art and design, and ‘insider’ and ‘outsider’ artists. Why would anyone decide who is ‘professional enough’ to enter the gates?

The Grand Palace of Everyonerolls out a black and white carpet for the work of over sixty artists in 26 unique collaborations between talented and dedicated artists. Side by side they find their way in the art world and present a broad scope of collaborations in every nook and cranny of Nest. Never before have so many artists shared the space in one exhibition.
