Nest at Art Rotterdam 2018

Yair Callender developed an impressive installation especially for Art Rotterdam When the Sun Falls, at the entrance of the Van Nelle Factory. The presentation was part of the ‘Open Air’ programme that showed large-scale artworks on the grounds of the Van Nelle Factory during Art Rotterdam 2018. With When the Sun Falls, Yair Callender wanted to invite the art buyer and exhibition visitor to take a seat on the grass, in order to reflect on all the materials that cannot be purchased. The work of art was not so much an indictment of the fair, or capitalism, but rather an invitation to a degree of awareness of the mundane and that which we can view for free, provided that we are occasionally reminded of it.
