Trespassages

Artist
  • Simon Senn
Curator
  • Eelco van der Lingen

Trespassages is the first presentation of the work by Simon Senn in The Netherlands. Some existing works are presented around a new work that was made in response to the refugee crisis. Senn went to one of the refugee camps on the Greek island of Lesbos. There he sought for interaction with some refugees and asked them to make artworks. Within this sensitive subject, he explores the boundaries of correct morals which may result in an uncomfortable and dubious feeling of discord.

Senn confronts us with our most naïve, biased and selfish self and with the impossibility of a consist correct moral. There is no correct, and no politically correct. The work has a direct appeal because of its visual presentation and the dangerous or dubious starting points, but at the same time the work is ambiguous. This way, it gives an opening to reflect on current societal questions and the possible role of the artist in these matters.

Opening by alderman Joris Wijsmuller Saturday June 4, 16.00 hrs.
Together and simultaniously with Pulchri Studio (14.00 hrs) and Galerie Maurits van de Laar (15.00 hrs)
