In January, Nest is moving back to the DCR-building in The Hague
In January 2026, Nest will return to the De Constant Rebecqueplein in the Regentessekwartier in The Hague. While we organized exhibitions and programs for a period of a year and a half at the Verheeskade in Laak, our permanent home in the DCR creative hub was made climate-neutral and future-proof. Under the leadership of new director Laurie Cluitmans, the first exhibition in the renovated building will open on January 9th.
Over the past year and a half we programmed from Nest in Laak, with a 6-part exhibition series on art and listening and the Weekenders AM.PM.AM. together with Club Laak. Meanwhile, there was intensive work at our location next to The Hague’s iconic electricity factory: the space was made more sustainable and enlarged, with restoration of the building’s monumental features—a wonderful starting point for new exhibitions.
On January 9th 2026 Nest celebrates its festive reopening and the launch of the exhibition Urning & Urningin. Language and Desire since 1864. The exhibition departs from the legacy of 19th-century jurist Karl Heinrich Ulrichs, who was the first to give words to queer loves. Nine contemporary artists therefore reflect on language, identity and desire.
Guest curator Philipp Gufler, Laurie Cluitmans, the new director of Nest, and the Nest team look forward to starting the new year together.
